International cooperation in the field of forensic science and technology
The experts from the Forensic Science and Technology Institute (KTI) of the LKA NRW regularly take part in international congresses, conferences and symposia.
LKA NRW

The CTI of the LKA NRW is a member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI). A total of 64 institutes from 36 countries belong to ENFSI, including the forensic science institutes of the BKA and six other state criminal investigation offices.

Important tasks of ENFSI are in particular
- the transfer of knowledge, research results and best practice,
- the initiation of research and development projects and
- the harmonization and standardization of forensic technology and individual investigation procedures.

Within the ENFSI organization, an exchange of information and experience takes place at various committee levels. Once a year, the Annual Meeting - the annual conference of ENFSI members - is held at different European venues. At the working level, the actual technical cooperation takes place in a total of 17 international working groups from the various forensic disciplines. CTI scientists and forensic scientists have been significantly involved in these ENFSI Expert Working Groups and individual projects for many years.

The participation of CTI experts in international congresses, conferences and symposia enables them to provide expert opinions at the cutting edge of science and technology and to establish international contacts (networking). In addition, the publication of articles in specialist literature by CTI scientists promotes international exchange.
